Medicine and Health Care

experience the intersection of biology and technology through hands-on activities and projects.

At the classrooms located in area hospitals, students will observe medical procedures and develop skills essential for the health care field. They will gain exposure to various career paths from health care professionals at partner organizations CoxHealth, Mercy Springfield Communities, Jordan Valley Community Health Center, and many others.

 

Project Examples:

  • Food and safety training and education materials for concession stand volunteers using county health department standards
  • Audit and educational outreach plan on hand washing procedures for patient care professionals
  • Presentation and lesson plan on dog bite prevention for elementary school children
  • "Consolation baskets" for grieving families, in partnership with hospitals and nursing home facilities
